This week I published a new short promotional film created for North East of Eden, a new book by Gabor Szabo.
This was a really enjoyable project to be part of. Gabor had written a script and had a clear vision for the film—my role was to bring that to life.
We filmed at dawn in the beautiful village of Haworth, Yorkshire, which meant a 5am start. (Fortunately, I’m an early riser!) Careful planning was essential: as the sun rose, we had a very limited window to capture all the footage before the light changed too much.
Usually I’d shoot the main content first and then get the B-roll, but with the light changing so rapidly, I had to work chronologically to maintain continuity. It meant moving quickly and efficiently—culminating in our final shot: Gabor sitting quietly, watching the sunrise over the Yorkshire landscape.

Alongside the short film, I also shot a promotional portrait of Gabor to accompany the launch of the book. For those of you who follow me on social media you might have noticed I’ve been sharing a little more behind the scenes content recently and that’s something I’m really keen to do more of.
