New Behind the Scenes Video: Delivering Event Photography & Video in Real Time at UKREiiF 2026

Event Workflow - Behind the Scenes at UKREiiF 2026

One of the questions I’m often asked is how I manage large event shoots on my own, especially when clients need both photography and video delivered throughout the event.

In this behind the scenes video, I take you through the workflow and planning that helps keep everything running smoothly.

Shadow & Light Monthly #79

Leica Gallery New York presents Ballet Three Panel PetaPixel BG

Shadow & Light is a list of curated photography stories, features, techniques, news and inspiration that I’ve come across this month.

In this edition we explore striking portraits from Albert Watson, discover three very different photographic interpretations of ballet, and go behind the scenes at the Winter Olympics – from Canon’s extraordinary gear room to the FPV drones capturing dramatic aerial footage. It’s a reminder that photography spans everything from intimate human moments to the immense technical effort required to document the world’s biggest events.

Shadow & Light Monthly #78

Fireworks Cameron Hutchinson

Shadow & Light is a list of curated photography stories, features, techniques, news and inspiration that I’ve come across this month.

In this first edition of 2026 we explore the abstract beauty of fireworks reimagined and reflect on the importance of trust in portrait photography through rare images of Sophia Loren. We revisit a lesser-known chapter of Ansel Adams’ work, and indulge in Fujifilm’s beautifully nostalgic take on instant photography.

Shadow & Light is a list of curated photography stories, features, techniques, news and inspiration that I’ve come across this month.

In this final edition of 2025 we reflect on the legacy of Martin Parr, explore intimate portraits made in the quiet of night, and celebrate extraordinary nature photography from above and below the surface. From daring aerial pioneers and site-specific street work to personal journeys through cities, taxis and phone boxes, this month’s Shadow & Light is a reminder of the many ways photography helps us understand the world.

Escaping to Northumberland: A Photographic Journey

Simon Wiffen Photography 0554 1

Northumberland has always been one of our favourite places to visit. Its vast skies, rugged coastlines and timeless landscapes offer the perfect backdrop for slowing down, spending time together as a family and capturing photographs just for myself.

After a busy year, our trip to this beautiful corner of the UK felt like a breath of fresh air – a chance to recharge, explore, and create.

New Video: Behind the Scenes – Author Portrait Shoot, Gabor Szaba

YouTube Video Poster: Behind the Scenes. Author Portrait Shoot Gabor Szabo

I’ve just published a new behind-the-scenes video from a recent studio portrait session with author Gabor Szabo.

This shoot was part of the promotional materials for Gabor’s new book North East of Eden. The goal was to create a clean, expressive portrait that reflected the thoughtful, introspective tone of the book. We kept things simple and focussed, using controlled lighting to highlight Gabor’s features and allow his character to come through in the final image.

Shadow & Light Monthly #66

Letizia Battaglia

Shadow & Light is a list of curated photography stories, features, techniques, news and inspiration that I’ve come across this month.

In this edition we uncover the world of crime and poverty in Sicily and celebrate National Geographic’s ‘Pictures of the Year’. We take a look at the photographic work of Julian Lennon and get up close and personal with a humpback whale.

Shadow & Light Monthly #65

Japan Love Hotel

Shadow & Light is a list of curated photography stories, features, techniques, news and inspiration that I’ve come across this month.

In this final edition of 2024 we look at the quirky facades of Japan’s Love Hotels and discover a man who took a Polaroid photo every day. We look at the beautiful work of Alex Webb and some beautiful black and white photography from the streets of Havana.

I have a passion for story telling and I’ve always been drawn to artists and makers. Recently I’ve started moving into videography as a tool to better capture and tell these stories.
