Simon Wiffen Photography 0554 1

Northumberland has always been one of our favourite places to visit. Its vast skies, rugged coastlines and timeless landscapes offer the perfect backdrop for slowing down, spending time together as a family and capturing photographs just for myself.

After a busy year, our trip to this beautiful corner of the UK felt like a breath of fresh air – a chance to recharge, explore, and create.

The unpredictable nature of film photography

Canon FX SLR Film Camera

When I first fell in love with photography it was on film, processing images in my own darkroom. The analogue medium really makes you appreciate that photography is actual magic.

These days I very rarely shoot film, although I’d love to do it more often. There’s no doubt that in this digital world the cost of film and processing is a hard justification. So why would anyone shoot on film in this day and age?
