Back amongst the trees of Newmillerdam

This week we returned to one of our favourite spots for a walk through the trees of Newmillerdam. It always offers a fantastic opportunity to take some photos.

I hope you’re all coping ok with the ongoing Lockdown? It’s hard isn’t it? We’ve found it incredibly difficult to help Ellis understand why he can’t go to school or see his family and friends. Trying to keep his body and brain active is tough. We’ve found being able to get outside a life-saver.

As the lockdown starts to relax a little we’ve started to make tentative, carefully timed trips further afield for our walks. We still have to be really careful to keep him away from the crowds who seem a little too keen to push forward as if everything’s back to normal. He’s vulnerable and we’re continuing to shield but a change of environment and fresh air is incredibly important for maintaining mental health so we try and keep a healthy balance.

This weekend we got an early start to beat the crowds and took him for a walk around Newmillerdam. It’s one of our favourite places to walk and Ellis absolutely loves it. He adores being outside. He’s designed to run, climb, fall and get back up again.

A little time out of the house and seeing him in his element in amongst the trees really helps us to feel normal, if only for a short time.
