Bringing a Campaign to Life Behind the Scenes: My Work with Yorkshire Tea

A few months ago, I had the opportunity to work on a brilliant project capturing behind-the-scenes photography and video for a new campaign shoot with Yorkshire Tea.

The shoot took place at their headquarters and involved a full-scale production across multiple setups, with two units filming in parallel throughout the day. My role was to document everything as it unfolded, capturing the craft, collaboration and energy behind the scenes without interrupting the flow of the production.

Behind-the-scenes work like this is always about balance. You need to stay responsive and mobile, blending into the background while still picking out the moments that tell the story. From quiet, detail-led shots of props and preparation through to the busier, more chaotic moments between takes, the aim is always to create a genuine sense of what it felt like to be there.

What stood out most on this shoot was the atmosphere. There was a real sense of momentum across both units, but also a lot of humour and personality running through the day. Those candid, unscripted moments are often the most valuable, and they’re what give this kind of content its authenticity.

The Final Campaign

It’s always interesting to see how a shoot like this comes together in the final edit.

Having spent the day capturing the behind-the-scenes moments, you get a real appreciation for the level of detail, planning and collaboration that goes into even the most light-hearted ideas. Seeing that translate into a finished piece is always a rewarding part of the process.

You can watch some examples of the final videos below:

It’s a great example of how the energy and personality on set carries through into the final work, and why capturing both the process and the outcome can be so valuable.

To give a bit more insight into how I approached this shoot, I’ve put together a quick breakdown of the rig I used and why it worked so well in this environment. There’s more information in the full case study but for a quick overview you can watch the video below.
