Before the latest COVID-19 lockdown came into effect I was able to kick-off 2021 with a family session at Temple Newsam in Leeds.
I arranged to meet Stephen and his children at Temple Newsam in Leeds for a new year family photoshoot. It was a very cold and frosty morning (it was -2℃ when I arrived) but everyone arrived raring to go.
My approach to family photography is simple – I aim to capture your family as naturally as I can. I like to slip into the background and let the family get on with being a family without the pressure of performing for the camera. My job is to document and create images that capture those moments.
The family visit Temple Newsam regularly so I let them lead the way, visiting their favourite spots starting at the walled gardens and working our way through the woods and up towards the house.
Towards the end of the session it started to snow. Snow always brings an added element of magic to a shoot, especially when photographing children. This added a really nice extra dimension to the set of images I was able deliver.

Entering lockdown
A few days after the shoot we entered a new period of lockdown due to COVID-19 restrictions. As such I won’t be able to shoot again for a little while unfortunately.
Hopefully I’ll be able to meet up with more families soon and capture more images like this but for the time being I’ll continue to shoot a little closer to home.
