So, with no further ado, I give you this month’s Shadow & Light Monthly. Go grab yourself a cuppa and enjoy this month’s selections below. Please let me know in the comments what you think.
Pick of the month – Radiohead’s Bassist Has Taken Behind-The-Scenes Photos for Years. Now He’s Sharing Them With The World

Colin Greenwood plays bass in one of the world’s most acclaimed bands, but he doesn’t view himself as a particularly public figure. In some ways, he retreats even further from the public eye in his new book, a collection of photographs called “How to Disappear: A Portrait of Radiohead.”
The title is a callback to a track on Radiohead’s fourth studio album, 2000’s “Kid A.” But while the book’s title was partially inspired by his love of the song, it was also inspired by the fact that Greenwood is barely featured in its pages.
“Holding a camera and taking pictures is a nice way of sort of hiding behind something whilst everything else is going on in front of you. It can act as a shield as well as a scope.”
Colin Greenwood
If you’re a regular reader you’ll know I absolutely love features like this that go behind the scenes on tour with musicians. It’s a fascinating window into a world most of us never get to experience.

America Through the Lens of Robert Frank

On the 100th anniversary of the birth of influential photographer, Frieze revisit his landmark photo book, ‘The Americans’. The book explores Frank’s evolution from a Swiss-born photographer to a chronicler of mid-20th-century America’s complexities. Despite the acclaim, Frank distanced himself from his early work, shifting towards experimental film and introspective photography, often marked by personal loss.
His later works embraced diaristic and abstract forms, breaking traditional documentary norms. Renowned for his poetic, unorthodox approach, Frank’s legacy lies in his ability to blend technical innovation with deep emotional resonance.
