My latest behind-the-scenes video is now live over on my YouTube channel and in this one I’m sharing a real-world look at how I manage to shoot both photography and video as a solo shooter at large, live events.
I was recently commissioned to capture a mix of stills and b-roll over three days at UKREiiF 2025 — a major property sector event held at the Royal Armouries in Leeds. My principal job was stills photography: networking sessions, speaker panels, candid moments. But alongside that I was also capturing smooth b-roll footage to support a short video edit.
In this video I talk through how I approach shoots like this — from gear and setup to working efficiently in a fast-paced environment. I walk through my two-camera setup (one for photography, one rigged for video), how I manage switching between formats quickly, and how I keep the workflow as agile as possible without missing key moments.
There’s also some insight into the structure of the shoot, including how I was able to deliver edited images quickly to support the client’s daily social media updates.
